Also on Channel 4 on Friday nights is Thumb Bandits, a programme about computer games, and one of the best examples of "student just come in from the pub" television I have seen for years. (Almost since I stopped being a student who came in from the pub in fact) It's great and they do some interesting stuff about game history too.

Just to reveal the true geek within me, on Saturday I got hold of the front panel of the PDP 11/45 that we used to run in the department 20 years ago and I cannot tell you how pleased that made me. I thought that the system had been traded in to DEC for a VAX, but it seems to have been hidden away in a cupboard somewhere and in the general move that is happening just now it just appeared outside my office! It even has the key still in the panel.

I borrowed a Japanese CD from my daughter's piano teacher which is called Habikino no Ashita (or perhaps Habikino no Asa). I assume this means something like "Habikino Dawn" anyway the music is very strange : sort of tinkly music box tunes.
