I saw these guys playing on Saturday night in Zef's in Ambleside - they were very good indeed.
Just back from David Murray Quartet at the Caedmon Hall. Most excellent indeed. (Andy Hamilton (89) turned up to watch him.)
San Diego sunrise (link needs a .jpg - I think the link is longer than my database field so it keeps going wrong....)
I can't work out which is more annoying - the even earlier start to xmas nonsense or the sticker on a bag of apples saying "Happy Halloween". Halloween is not a festival (in this country) so please don't try to make it one.
Birdland : Maynard Ferguson. I love the way at on epoint he stands in front of the section sort of pretending to conduct and they are all just ignoring him. They also manage to make parts of the tune sound like "Jump". Nice tenor playing.
An emusic download today of Miles In Copenhagen 1960 - Coltrane in the band of course. Fabulous, fabulous live version of So What. Amazing solo from JC.
See proof!!!! (And find out about those christian-built highways back home) (Update: seems it is a spoof. Thank goodness)
Damn, the Bajofondo Tango Club are touring but are not coming anywhere near here (unless I've missed them) - go and see them if you get the chance though.
I just saw someone wearing a t-shirt that read "You will regret reading this t-shirt when the sketch artist asks you to describe my face"
This is more like it. (But since when have broccoli and corn been exotic vegetables? Even in India.)
Just finished the new Pratchett - very good indeed I thought. There's a new Bill Bryson too
Great quote on No Rock&Roll Fun : "So, that's Shed 7, MC Hammer, the Inspiral Carpets and EMF all on tour in the UK at roughly the same time. No wonder nobody's bothered to invent time travel; there's nothing bloody left in the past to go back and visit."
RIP Marcel Marceau - I saw him once in a tiny theatre in Edinburgh in the 60s. He was fantastic. The only people in the audience were me and my friends. About 6 of us.
I popped into SL for a minute - still as buggy as ever. Crashed three times within 30 secs of logging in.
Just been on a boat at the mouth of the Tyne watching the QE2 come up the river (on the 3rd attempt). Lots of boats, firework display, parachute flares to make a "red carpet". It was good. If I have any decent photos I might put them online.
