Sorry about the lack of entertainment here recently - it gets harder and harder to find good stuff and that takes time that I haven't had recently.
RIP John Michell - I was just reading the articles about him in Fortean Times too. Very sad.
Son out of hospital now but a lot of recovering to do for him. Thanks to everyone for your messages - much appreciated.
There is a partial descent of the cone of silence - I am supposed to be in Portugal but the son is in hospital so I am not....
Some great archive Jazz footage in the Arena program on Cool - still on the iPlayer at the moment. I do like 50s jazz more and more.
There is a shop near me called Pets Haven which is a grooming parlour. Unfortunately they advertise it by URL and of couse the name comes out petshaven which I always read the wrong way.
Someone just pointed out that Star Trek boldy goes where no one has gone before, but they always manage to meet someone. How?
Everything I want to post these last few days, I have posted before. The internet must be full or something.
And this is where I went to school from being 5 till 17. It isn't a school now so it doesn't look quite like it did.
And we lived here (brown door) when students, but it had proper dormer windows in those days. And we also lived in here (in both 122 and 124). The much missed Joe Scurfield loved a couple of doors down for a while.
JD Crowe and the New South - badly dubbed with the version from the record but well worth watching just for the clothes and hair. One of my favourite songs ever this.
Bizarre spam o'the day : "Calvary greetings to you and the rest of your household, how are you doing today? I sincerely hope fine because am fine with family over here" What on earth are Calvary greetings?
Harry and Caresse Crosby once travelled round Europe only stopping in places whose names had one syllable.
Good lord, the Brits are dreadful. Really, really, dreadful. But not bad enough to be car crash TV either.
I do like the Warren Buffet line "It's only when the tide goes out that you see who's swimming naked"
I read a couple of the comics on the go comics site. Have you ever read any of the comments that people post? Some of them are mind-bogglingly stupid. Like repeating the punchline, or seeming to miss the point a) that it is a cartoon and b) that it is meant to be funny. One has to assume that the posters are just stupid.
Damn, this is good - Quicksiver Messenger Service play Minor Swing (Sorry if you can't spotify - I cant find it anywhere else - I do have 9 invites left but I have no idea if they work outside the UK)
However I will never understand why/how the medal he won in the war weighs 500 pounds and it sleeps on the floor.
Pornotron - see the difference between safe search and search. May well offend (if you are lucky enough to get the right keywords of course)

My mother mentioned to me today a radio programme called "The Boys of Glen Morrach" - a sort of schoolboy detective story. Very unusually there appears to be no mention of this anywhere on the internet. Indeed I could only find a single reference to the boys of glen morrach and that was at a book seller. Odd
Was at a birthday party last night - all folkies so lots of good singing and playing Johnny Handle did a song and Rachel and Becky Unthank too (it was their dad's party) - very much the old and the young of Tynrside music
RIP John Martyn Solid Air is arguably my favourite album of all time. Listening to it now on Spotify.
Bizarre spam sent to me asking about reserving two rooms for two couples travelling, with a promise to fooolow up wiht credit card details for reservation. I wonder what its all about.
I invented an Amaretti Betty (dessert) today - worked quite well but it was perhaps a bit too strongly flavoured by the amaretti biscuits. (Apples, blueberries, sugar, rind and juice of an orange and crushed amareti biscits)
