ITC Garamond - some great lines in here and in the comments.
For some reason I was Googling for "Copperplate" the other week, in relation to the handwriting style. And then I came across a rant (possibly even on this same site, but too lazy to search again right now) about the (unrelated) "Copperplate" typeface and its lack of whateverness.
