Grrr, I hate Windows. My PC at home from which I have slowly been stripping devices to see if I can find the problem runs find under Knoppix (as at the moment), but now won't even boot under Windows : BSOD straight away, so fast back to the boot that I can't see what it is!
Not that it'll be much help, but XP or 2000 (I forget which) introduced the useful 'feature' of restarting automatically after a BSOD. If you turn this off, you're at least given time to read it. If you can get to it, it's in System -> Advanced -> Startup and Recovery.
