Rat for dinner - there is (or was) a rat restuarant somewhere in Belgium.
Well, rat restaurant... we're talking about musk rats here, or 'water rabbits', as we like to call them. And it's been forbidden by the government to cook these animals for several years now, though it's still considered a delicacy. It's a traditional stew-type dish cooked with beer, bacon, prunes and turnip.

When in China we asked our guide in Guillen to take us out for some authentic Chinese food. It included Viper and rat. It was spelled "raft" on the menu, but we were able to deduce it was a variety of what they called Mountain rat. I saw them twirling them by the tail and conking their head on the sidewalk to kill them as we made our way into the restaurant. Don't think I ate too much of it.
