My wife pointed out to me the other day that the trees that have been planted round the Newcastle ground are the palest, whitest maple alternating with the darkest copper beech/birch/maple. The closest you can get to black and white stripes in trees in fact.
On a drunken night out I once found out that a lot of the plants around St James' Park aren't actually real, the bushes are plastic. I'm not making this up.

We could use a few pics of those 'Black and White' trees Lindsay......

didn'y you link to a google-photo story recently about a coppice of trees planted by an ardent Nazi in a forest 60+ years ago which make a swastika by having a differentiated foliage?

-G

Yes there is a swastika in a German forest somewhere.

As to photos of the trees, they are all still small and quite far apart so you don't really see the effect that (I assume) is intended for the future. But I will see if there is a photo to be takne when next I am by with a camera
