Was at the Sage, Gateshead last night and there was a whole gamelan stashed under a staircase. Quite bizarre really.
That would take up quite a bit of room, wouldn't it.<br> In Indonesian culture it's forbidden to step over any instrument in a gamelan. So, maybe it was put under the stairs to prevent that.<br> Some gamelam are believed to have so much power, that playing them<br> may exert power over nature.
