I just mentioned Mao Ze Dong in a class today and almost none of the students knew who he was (excluding the Chinese of course). Several of them had no idea who Lenin was either. *sigh*

Everyone has heard of Lenin! If only Yoko wouldn't keep banging on about him....

It's partly because of the West's studious attempts to stifle any knowledge of Communism whatsoever, to the point that any knowledge of the figures behind its rise in the East is lost to the younguns. Also, it's pretty much totally irrelevant to them. I suspect they would be equally ignorant of Immanuel Kant, James Joyce and T.S. Elliot.<br> <br> Most people are painfully ignorant. This is not a new thing; it has always been so.

It's also a symptom of the way history is (or was, depending on whether they've changed anything recently) taught. You don't get taught a wide range of histories, just specific subsets depending on that year's syllabus.<br> <br> For example, I was taught about the Native Americans and the Medieval Britain, and not an awful lot else. Others I know did Russian history. It's luck of the draw.

"...the Medieval Britain..."<br> <br> *sigh* I should learn to proofread before posting.

It's the Plan

<P>It IS the plan. I blame the TAVISTOCK Institute. Polling for a purpose, making sure the programming is working, keeping people's dumb is the best thing going for big business and the wealthy elite. </P> <P>I am starting to place Icke in higher esteem after reading Michio Kaku's Hyperspace......</P>

Certainly when I was in the UK school system (more years ago than I care to recall), we had a very broad history syllabus, which included world history subjects such as the rise of communism in Russia and China, the Chinese revolution, aspects of US history (mostly from the quakers to WW1) and european history. Maybe this is another example of the dumbing down of the school systems! But according to the government that ain't happening, so I must be wrong ;-)

......and Icke is easy on the eyes. bonus.
