Paul McCartney did a Ukelele cover of another Harrison song during the second leg of his tour three years ago. He introduced the song by saying the very Uke he was playing was given to him by George....touching.

I remember seeing part of a documentary on the Beatles eight or ten years ago that had George playing his uke. An interview segment that was done for the episode took place on what I presumed to be an estate of his in England, and he strummed abbreviated versions of a few songs, including, I think, While My Guitar Gently Weeps!. I remember thinking he had such a good touch that it didn't come off as a joke either. Here was George, simply playing a few tunes on a nice instrument... And then, "Oh, that's a ukelele!"

I own two ukes and they're quite fun. Do get one, Gary. Quite versatile, and easy to learn. For some uke virtuosity, check out <a href="http://www.jakeshimabukuro.com/.

My Dad was an avid Beatles fan, and after their breakup
he drifted more towards George Harrison. My Dad died
on Dec. 2, 2001, two days after Harrison. They were both
the same age, 58, and they both died of the same cause,
lung cancer, and they both experienced the same compounding dibilitation. Cancer of the lungs tends to spread upwards, and as a result, brain tumors are all too common in lung cancer patients. During their last month both unknowingly experienced at least a dozen brain seizures that caused sight and sound hallucinations. In my Dad's case, for example, he would suddenly demand that someone "make whoever was running that jackhammer stop trying to split my head open." He had no recollection of these seizures. They both also had instances of not recognising and/or being suspicious of their wives. Both were diagnosed less than five months before their deaths, and both chose to die at home with Hospice assistance. During the final week the kidneys stopped working. The similarities end there.
My Dad would have loved hearing the uke. I'm glad I came across the webpage and sent the link here.

Hope I didn't depress anyone....too much.
