Made our xmas cake today. The Kenwood turned out to be not working properly so creaming the butter was a little tricky but we got it done. (I should add that the Kenwood belonged to P's mother so is doing pretty well all things considered)

A proper English Xmas cake has all kinds of goose fat and other inappropriate things in it does it not?

Ole

Um, no. A proper fruitcake is mostly dried fruit held together with a small amount of flour, eggs and lots of alcohol. You are probably thinking of xmas pudding which is much the same but has suet in it. Veg suet works just fine.

did you need a months head start?

john Weeks

a month? we used to get 'em done 3-5! -the longer they sit, the more alcohol you can get them to absorb.. kenwoods are awesome. the potato peeler is a concrete-mixer drum set vertical with carborundum grit on the inside. you can achieve partial fusion with the sausage-meat forcer attachment, and the blender will hit a 20' ceiling if you can get it to 'high' quickly enough with the lid off..

reminds me of a commercial chicken plucker I once saw, hardcore!
