benzine in the drinking water is very nasty. this is what killed one of the french water companies a while back. the russians are downstream of this. I wonder wtf is going to happen to all the villages outside of harbin? we had a carbuoy of benzine in the lab I worked in at Heriot-Watt, and some raw petroleum. I was told to keep well clear of both of them! (the site was declared some kind of love-canal stuffup when the building was knocked down some years later, apparently a lot of crap had leaked from the lab sinks into the groundsoil and it was contaminated with long-life radioactive markers, not to mention 150 years of undergraduate spit...)
