Just watched Get Carter - never seen it before. Good film, and an interesting view of a long gone Newcastle.
It happened to be on TV during one of my visits to Newcastle a few years back. Quite strange to see that car park across the river from the Copthorne while simultaneously seeing it on the tube.

I loved being by the chain-lift of coalmine waste which dumps into the sea. Is there anything as mechanically crude and basic as that left in the industrial north?
