What's cool about it is that it will convert in either direction, and does so without the need for a switch or any settings change. Not really a pre-amp per-se, but, it would work with an output sent from a small mixing board. Or you could possibly try a 1/4 inch cabled microphone adapted to an RCA Male jack (but I haven't ever had to test this specific configuration myself).</p><p>Hope that helps.
