You might be interested in the most famous Talbot driver Pierre Levegh. Not only was he the driver in the 1954 Le Mans tragedy but in 1952 he drove a TALBOT for 23.5 single handed hours and had a 4 LAP lead when his engine broke. Check his Wikipedia entry.
