All will be quiet here for a couple of days.....
15:54:31
It is astonishing how the Japanese boy bands manage to sing in Japanese but make it sound like English. I'm watching Exile on the previously mentioned TV stream, and they're just a Blue clone - quite odd. It must be something to do with the phrasing of the words that makes it sound like English, but does that make it harder for Japanese speakers to understand? Or easier for English speakers to pick out words?

There was a bunch of the Tory shadow cabinet on television last night saying how wonderful Michael Howard was. I had never heard of or seen any of them. They were non-descript and without personality. Michael Howard at least has personality even it is mad and obnoxious. They showed a clip of him talking in parliament and it was like a bunch of schoolboys scoring points off each other in teh school debating society - all name calling and sniggering. Ugh.

29 October 200320:29:29
This has to be the most frustrating game I have tried to play for years. I suspect that it may prove to be a second player win (well, that's my excuse)
15:34:29
Fresh cuts (slightly gruesome but not real!)
15:20:29
catless is now connected via a gigabit network, though I don't know if this will be visible to anyone.
14:00:29
Know your Schitt - mildly entertaining but becomes tedious.....
09:19:29
Sorry about the vanishing machine name - we are doing some replumbing here and the DNS entry for catless got screwed.

28 October 200309:35:28
Courtney, I do need a silpat, though I suspect a sheet of baking parchment will work as well. I haven't seen them for sale over here though. (I have to restrain myself with kitchen gadgets - they do tend to end up getting dusty in a corner and then being thrown out.)
08:28:28
New Weebl and Bob - excellent

27 October 200322:04:27
Amsworth Aardvarks (I'm asked to add a pr0n warning here, however when I go to the site I don't see anything untoward.....YMMV)
21:49:27
Proof of Lee - what?
21:48:27
Circuses - actully, I've never liked circuses. I don't find clowns funny, animal tricks are boring and ever since a rope artist fell in front of me, I've never liked trapeze type acts.
19:57:27
Trying to make chocolate chip cookies, but they never quite come out right - getting them off the baking tray is a major issue.
17:06:27
Look in my fridge (not my fridge, of course)
13:59:27
Well, iTunes under Windows is much better than anything of the other music players I have tried.
08:31:27
I am reliably assured that these are the best cakes in the world, though I would certainly have to try one before I could comment myself. However, if their cakes are like their website, then they probably aren't - nasty and entirely pointless flash interface to the product.

I also like ortaniques but rarely see them, I suspect that they have too many seeds to make them a commercial success.
20:07:25
oooh, I have never seen a green satsuma
20:06:25
My, lots of really dull, pointless entries today.
20:05:25
Went out shopping today and ended up in TK Maxx buying cheap coats - got a rather nice waterproof Quicksilver coat with a removable lining which when removed fits very nicely inside the very technical Tenson coat I also bought.
20:03:25
Haven't got Panther for the iBook yet. Hope it is as good as people keep telling me. (Of course it won't be, things never are.)
09:12:25
Unusual food allergies (Though I suspect none of them are that unusual, its just that they are uncommon, though I did read somewhere that a third of the population were allergic to Mango, sounds unlikely though)
09:08:25
An example of Mango Allergy (since the last item was only an abstract)
09:07:25
Stuff about papaya, and seems to ward off SARS as well. Never had a fresh papaya

Taylorology - The publication centered on the unsolved 1922 murder of silent film director William Desmond Taylor
22:23:24
Did you know that you could still get a Hansom Cab in London in 1947? And that Margaret Thatcher (grrr.) once said that anyone over the age of thiry on public transport was by definition a failure?
22:22:24
Meat shake - how vile.
22:18:24
A list of occupations (I was going to say that I couldn't see Iraq in there, but I decided against it)

23 October 200322:47:23
Definitely a must have (when they become affordable)
19:47:23
Worst covers (via geeky.chick.blog, nice one C.)

Ah, I have shown up on the Ageless project

22 October 200321:18:22
Why do these guys not spam me?
20:54:22
Weird thunder and lightning storm rolling round us at the moment. Doesn't seem at all appropriate.
20:34:22
Sometimes the iPod throws up great little runs - two Bob Wills tracks, a Mike Auldridge and David Grisman track, the Lemonheads singing "The Outdoor Type" (one of my all time favourite songs) and then the Beasty Boys' Intergalactic.
19:21:22
Yoshimoto Banana website, "found" via vixgirl
19:12:22
A Moveable Beast - a weblog by someone who is just 2 days younger than me.
08:44:22
Wind this Windows Media File forward to 40 minutes in and watch the sequence at that point. Astonishing!!(I suspect the whole talk is good but I haven't had time to watch it yet.)

21 October 200322:20:21
Extreme Walking - lovely
12:50:21
The Cremaster Cycle (Flash)

20 October 200308:54:20
Mori Art Museum - fancy flash interface that is really hard to use. There don't seem to be any pictures either.
08:40:20
Outside the Inbox "is a compilation of songs inspired by and titled after the subject lines of mass-email (spam). I asked artists to choose a spam subject line and then write a song with the same title."

19 October 200320:42:19
Frost forecast for tonight so I've stuck the Fuchsias, the tiny Olive trees, the Zantedeschia, the Abutilon and the Tree Fern in the greenhouse, which has a little heater to keep it frost free.
20:19:19
I do like Satan's Laundromat (via Nutlog)

18 October 200320:04:18
Ruin Your Life - pages from the Self Harm Community. Not recommended viewing in places, but it is interesting ot know about its existence.
19:22:18
Blues Images - see the whole picture of Charley Patton, not just the cropped version! Fantastic stuff here. The site doesn't work well in Firebird though.
18:01:18
Rude Blues - a nice varied collection of stuff for blues fan.
18:00:18
The Guardian has announced a weblog competition, I hear, and it seems to have 5 categories none of which seem to have anything at all to do with the actual content! Perhaps "best written" is content oriented, but of course if there is a lot of writing it falls outside my definition of a weblog and becomes a journal or something. (I don't have a link for it and really can't be bothered to go and look for it)
17:48:18
It's this kind0 of thing that makes me not be a fan of most sport.
09:01:18
The Stonehenge link from yesterday seems to have vanished - I don't know why. Here's a link to the story though.

17 October 200316:18:17
Here's a picture of my brother (CEO)
15:30:17
The Stonehenge laser thing - sorry, but I think this is so inconclusive as to be worthless. Axes? I see mushrooms, and a lot of archaeologists who have eaten too many of them.

16 October 200322:00:16
One of the students whose projects I supervised last year has won Best Student Project at the VNU Awards.
21:50:16
I wonder if I ought to start categorizing the links I put in here, so that I can then add new navigation schemes that let people explore them in their own personal style. Of course most of them would go under "weird" so may be. I should also stop being so cycnical about the latest trends in trendiness.
13:19:16
Credit Card "magic" (there's also other interesting/odd stuff at this site - have a wander about)

15 October 200312:35:15

20:49:12
Save concorde - I'm not sure that it is a good idea, even if it is a beauty of a plane.
20:40:12
Berlin Wall Homepage by a lady who says she is married to the wall. I may have done this one a long, long time ago - it looks vaguely familiar. I am still looking for a small piece of the wall for my daughter who was born on the day it came down, if anyone knows where a genuine piece can be found.

22:42:11
Kant's grave (I was trying to find out about Rip Kant who played on John Mayall's Crusade album, but no luck)
20:38:11
I hadn't come across the Chrome Ribbon campaign before
20:00:11
I still haven't decided what to do about eMusic - it's a hard call. They have loads of stuff that you cannot get anywhere else (and which you may never get anywhere else - stuff taken off vinyl for instance) and stuff that I have been after for years, so 40 tracks for $10 is still not a bad deal till I have it all. But they ought to be made aware that what they're doing is stupid - restrict the downloads by all means, but 40? That isn't even two albums for some of the stuff I have been pulling down. *sigh*
19:56:11
I wonder if this website would be more "cool" or look more professional if I moved everything left and put it all in a constrained column?
19:49:11

19:47:11
Today I bought for 50p a reamindered copy of this book

19:15:11
Nasty iPod incident today - the belt clip on the case fell to bits and it crashed to the concrete below, managing to not land on any of the case but instead the top corner of the player. No damage however (it seems)

10 October 200323:38:10
Deuce of Clubs book club - click through them all. There are some real gems in there.

9 October 200323:00:09
John Marsh - never heard of him
13:16:09
Oh, and emusic have disabled their messageboards. I wonder why.......
12:26:09
Hmm, emusic just committed suicide by being bought by someone and whacking on incredibly tight download limits, even if you were prepared to pay $50 a month. I suspect most people will jump ship.

8 October 200320:47:08
So the Derren Brown thing was indeed a stunt. Oh, gosh, I am surprised.

7 October 200323:08:07
I just did a google search for "Arthur McBride" - it is really interesting to read all the different versions of the song. A lot of the transcriptions are clearly based on Andy Irvine's version and are also equally clearly done by people who can't quite make out what he is saying (not that that is particularly easy!)
22:42:07
Pornsweeper review - most entertaining
20:20:07
I just saw the video for the Darkness' single - fantastic! Just like my youth as my daughter observed.
15:25:07
