I wonder if this song is about Hot Springs, Arkansas (USA) -- my neck o' the woods. No mention of gambling or barbecue, though.

Don't know, but I would make at a guess that it is the same Hot Springs that Robert Johnson sings about in 32-30 blues ("All the doctors in Hot Springs sure cant help her none") if that is any help!
