Blast, I set up a VPN from home last night and Outlook has sucked all the contents of my Inbox down to my home machine. I wonder how I can get them back again? I wonder how I can stop it doing it again?

find the .PST files, copy back home.

run vnc on the @home PC, drag and drop via GUI when not at home

switch to mozilla! (sorry)

Just a guess:

On your home machine, go into the properties of the email account. On the Advanced tab, there's a checkbox called 'Leave a copy of messages on server'. Also useful if you pick up your POP3 mail from more than one place.

As for getting them back to your work machine, you could export them as a PST file from your home machine and then re-import them at work.

Thanks. Can't switch to Mozilla as it doesn't talk MAPI (the service people wont enable IMAP even under SSL). I spent ages looking for the option to stop it happening but I couldn't find it - I'm pretty sure I looked under the advanced tab. I'll check when I get home.

Lindsay

Ah, if it's MAPI then I'm afraid I dunno guv.

Chris

That's strange - I'm running IMAP from home and it's via Services.

Mark

You can;t talk to the campus exchange server using IMAP - it isn;t enabled.

There is no checkbox that says "leave it on the server" unfortunately so I have no idea how to stop it.

(Now I have ADSL, I want DSL - copying that big mail file up the line is slooooow)

Lindsay

Ah, fixed it....
