Anyone old enough to remember this sort of thing? It rings a bell from some things my grandmother had when I was a kid, but did people really eat crisps in lemon meringue pie?

Mark

Well, I remember this kind of thing, but of course crisps were a luxury food and we couldn't afford them.

We did get lemon meringue pie made out from a packet which had this odd yellow sachet of "magic lemon" in it.

Lindsay

Ah, now I do remember that meringue pie you're on about. I also remember that crips packets used to be huge and full of crisps rather than air.

This is showing my age, but I remember when the Salt 'n Shake crisps first came out (back in the 70's I think) and even the little-blue bag of sale was bigger back then than it is now :-(

Mark

Oops, typing dyslexia. For "sale" read "salt"

Mark

Salt n' Shake is of course a *new* invention. All crisps were like that. Then they invented ready salted, *then* they put in the blue bag again as a gimmick.

And it's 70s, or if you prefer it '70s, either but not 70's
