I get the impression that the guys over at google just spend all their money and time innovating. The deskbar isn't invasive, and seems faster than a full browser. Got to be a good thing :)

The Google Calculator is especially useful. Just type in any expression and it'll work it out. You can even give it rubbish like "(2s/m ^ 5Watts) / 6 furlongs * speed of light" or "answer to life, the universe and everything". Great stuff.
