Listening to a David Grisman album I found when searching for Smoky Smothers - Dawg Jazz : I must be honest say that I have no recollection of seeing it before; very good though, with Stephane Grapelli and Martin Taylor on some tracks. Mind you a found a signed copy of an album by the late Johnny Cunningham (brother of Phil) and I do not remember ever seeing him so I haven't a clue where it came from. (Though Penny does think that we saw many eyars ago before he moved to the US)
Funny you should mention David Grisman. I was just listening to him today - his recording with Jerry Garcia, Old and in the Way. Catfish John is the song. I met Grisman and saw him perform in New Orleans years ago. Good stuff. So is your blog. Thanks, Bill
