The next time you are driving through Dublin (Texas, that is), be sure to buy some original Dr. Pepper. It's made with 100% Imperial Pure Cane Sugar - no high fructose corn syrup or other sweeteners. It will make you remember why you used to like soft drinks. Clean, crisp taste and truly refreshing!
http://www.olddocs.com/results.aspx?cat=Drinks&subcat1=Dr+Pepper
High fructose corn syrup is bad news, by the way.
Read "Fat Land : How Americans Became the Fattest People in the World."

Are all the cans of Dr Pepper sugar free now? I'm sure I recently noticed this change and its very annoying as I'm allergic to sweetners and so can't drink it anymore.

Richard

What ever happened to good old-fashioned corn syrup? ;-P

Chris Kuan

Nope, none of the major American manufacturers make a sugared cola-like drink for mass marketing, at least that I've found. Dr. Pepper in Dublin, Texas, is the only place where it can be bought. Oh, and Mexico bottlers have resisted switching from sugar, too, and their Coke is so delicious! People cross the border just to buy many cases of real Coke.
Sugar is way more expensive than HGCS, so it's pretty much taken over. Many apple and other juices contain HGCS, too. I've given it up completely. According to Fatland, it's metabolised as a fat, not a sugar! Using HGCS also disables the satiety "button" our bodies have to let us know we're full, supposedly. I really recommend reading this book.
Sorry, Richard. I'd stop drinking them if I were you.

Thanks for the heads up. Fortunately theres still some of the sugared Dr Pepper cans in the cantine at university. I'll enjoy them while they last.
