I wonder if I should start charging $5 to post comments? I wanted to post a comment to a thread on Metafilter that was as usual going on about Edison inventing the lightbulb. As you all know of course he did not invent the lightbulb, and, as you also know, I get really, really annoyed by the fact that people keep claiming he did. Anyhow, I was going to sign up to Metafilter to post a comment and they wanted $5. Bugger that for a pound of tomatoes. And this is nearly turning into the sort of long rambling post about nothing that you find on weblogs that are not "old style". Maybe I should give it a title. How about Duke?

Lindsay, you've got it the wrong way round. if you PAY US $5 to post, we can all then get google to believe we have some amazing ponzi/pyramid scheme to make $$$, and we can skip stage 2) and go straight to IPO and PROFIT!!!! -G

I think it may have been worth the 5 bucks just to put them right. Its one of my pet peeves as well, and I make sure every septic I meet is told how their education is incorrect and offer to take them to the discovery(science and engineering) museam to prove it

Dan

The title. How about 'Incandescent'.

Alan

...yeah...THEN we'll see who is REALLY committed to their insanity..I mean opinions...

By the way, you are so much more American that anyone could have thought....5 bucks to you...HA!

Lynn

I think you should charge $5 for the privilege of supplying a headline to posts.

Forgive my stupidity, I'm American. Who then invented the lightbulb? It's an honest question.

Why, Al Gore! Of course.
