I made it to 15k for sure and maybe 16k, but I suspect that was just my tinnitus.

Patrick

I'm not sure how well this works.
Most speakers and headphones peak at 18khz, plus the max frequency for the 44.1khz sample rate used is 22.05khz. This might explain why 20khz sounds (at least to me) lower than the 18khz file.

I could just make out the 17K, the 16K was very audible. This was on sony earbuds in my iBook.

I'm 31 if that makes any difference.

41 years old- 14. Is that good for my age?

This sucks, I'm 37 and can hear 17k clearly but not a thing from 18k. When I was 19 I had a test and could hear it all the way (over 20). I'm asthmatic, and the nurse at the test said often asthmatics can hear higher pitches than non-asthmatics.

I never bothered investigating her claims. Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

Does this mean I'm less asthmatic or just getting old?

Deaf as a child

I was born partially deaf and ended up having about 6 ops on me to fix it( T&A, grommets, T-tubes etc). As a result I can only hear the 13k sample and nothing more - this is at 26.

So I am learning to enjoy the written word, and as much music as I can right now!

Tom

I can hear every single one of them. I'm 20.

P.S They physically hurt my ears though. Is that normal?
